Next anti-Lynas rally on April 13 : NGOs

KUALA LUMPUR - The next anti-Lynas rally will be held on April 13 nationwide, said a group of NGOs today at the KL and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall here today.
The NGOs stated that the rally will be held after Friday prayers but the location of the rally has not been decided yet.
The nationwide rally, according to the representatives of the various NGOs, is planned to show solidarity and support of the people against Lynas.
“Radiation does not know race, religion or political views,” said Edy Noor Reduan representing Solidatiry Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM), at a press conference held at the KL and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall here today.
The NGOs also accused the government of not being transparent with the public regarding the Lynas facility.
“The government today is rife with corruption,” said Haris Ibrahim, representing Anything But Umno (ABU), adding that the Prime Minister has chosen Lynas over the people.
The press conference was also attended by Ang Hiok Gai from the People’s Green Coalition, S. Arutchelvan from Parti Sosialist Malaysia, Zulkefly Mohamad Omar from Anti-Rare Earth Action Body, Lilian Tan from Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement, and Zulkarnain Abdulah from Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
